Disabilities Services

disabled girl

The SETA Head Start/Early Head Start program is a special place for all children including children with special needs. We are committed to working with families to ensure that their children, including those with significant disabilities receive the comprehensive services they need to meet their developmental, health, and social needs. In addition we are also committed to continuously meeting the mandated 10 percent and more of enrollment opportunities for children with disabilities.

Curriculum Support

The SETA Head Start curriculum supports the individual learning styles of each child and children with special needs participate in the ongoing developmental assessment. Parent involvement is crucial in the education of all children. Classroom routines and activities support the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes and goals for children with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

Support Staff

The Disabilities Services Coordinator coordinates Disabilities Services for Sacramento County Head Start/Early Head Start Programs. Other SETA Head Start/Early Head Start staff who assist with disability services are Special Education Field Technicians who provide classroom support and promote advocacy skills with families as needed. They also explain parent/guardian rights and responsibilities according to the IDEA ’08 and assist families in getting services through Local Education Agencies and Early Intervention agencies.

Collaboration

blond boyCollaboration with the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), Warm Line, and local education agencies (LEA) is an essential component in making the SETA Head Start/Early Head Start Learning Centers an inclusive and natural environment.
