Mission Statement:
SETA is a joint powers agency of the City and County of Sacramento. Its Head Start program’s mission is to improve the lives of low-income children by providing comprehensive child development services that are family focused, including education, health, nutrition, and mental health. Our mission is accomplished by involving parents in the total operation and administration of the program supporting the growth of children, families, and staff through encouragement, nurturing, and empowerment.
Philosophy Statement:
The Head Start philosophy rests on
four basic principles:
- A child can benefit most from a comprehensive, interdisciplinary
program to foster normal development and remedy problems;
- Parents are the primary educators of their children and must be
directly involved in the program;
- The well-being of children is inextricably linked to the well-being
of the entire family; and
- Partnerships with other agencies and organizations in the community
are essential to meeting family needs.
